• Liviano

  Se debe a que el 90% de su volumen es aire, lo que se traduce en una densidad baja. Por lo tanto, es un material cinco veces más ligero que el agua, y ya que no absorbe el agua, es prácticamente imposible de hundir.

• Impermeable

  Gracias a la suberina y la cera que contiene.

• Elástico

  El corcho puede comprimirse hasta la mitad de su volumen, sin perder ninguna característica de flexibilidad, recuperando su forma natural, sin deformarse, ni romperse.

• Antiestático

  El corcho es resistente al polvo y no acumula electricidad estática lo que hace que la superficie no absorba polvo; por lo que es fácil de limpiar, pasando suavemente con un paño, tela o esponja un poco de agua y jabón neutro o de manos.

• Hipoalergénico

  A diferencia de otros materiales, las propiedades del corcho natural no permiten el crecimiento de ácaros; por lo tanto, es menos propenso a causar alergias.

• Resistente a la fricción y a la corrosión biológica

  el corcho es sorprendentemente resistente a la fricción. Su superficie no se desgasta fácilmente, lo que lo hace duradero, lo que hace que sea excelente material para fabricar artículos de uso diario. Sus propiedades mecánicas resisten temperaturas de -80ºC a 140ºC. La corrosión biológica se produce por humedad y la putrefacción de un elemento. El corcho resiste a la degradación por su presencia de taninos y ausencia de material proteico susceptible de crear hongos y moho (como el cuero animal).

  Este material no es perjudicial para la salud. No es tóxico, ni en contacto con la piel o después de ingerirse accidentalmente. Tampoco causa alergias. No irrita la conjuntiva del ojo y las membranas mucosas de la nariz, tampoco las vías respiratorias.

  Al provenir de la corteza del árbol de Alcornoque, es un producto 100% eco-amigable, sin necesidad de cortarlo, por lo que da vida por más de dos ciclos. Además, para la producción de la tela de corcho no se usan químicos, ni tampoco hay presencia de materias primas de origen animal.
